CAPTURING PRICELESS MOMENTS WITH YOUR KIDS

1. Capture a moment with God
2. Capture a moment of knowing Him
3. Capture a moment of loving
4. Capture a moment of playing
5. Capture a moment of fishing
6. Capture a moment of walking
7. Capture a moment of giving
8. Capture a moment of touching
9. Capture a moment of helping
10.Capture a moment of hope
11. Capture a moment of bonding
12. Capture a moment of resting
13. Capture a moment of living
14. Capture a moment of defeat
15. Capture a moment of victory

Capture it. Children are God's little jewels given to us parents. They only become young once. We are to take care of them. They are fragile.

"Oh be careful little eyes what you see...
Oh be careful little ears what you hear...
Oh be careful little hands what you do...
For the Father up above is looking down below...

Oh be careful big eyes what you see...
Oh be careful big ears what you hear...
Oh be careful big hands what you do...
For the little fellow down below is looking up above..."

Just remember what we see, hear or do . Capture it. Capture it right!

THE SPRING YEARS

These I count the sweetest days
Spring years of my life have just begun
Palm trees so tall and as they sway
Tasks and masks are not yet done

Bright light and cars on my sight
Never worry , If I may or if I might
Parchment and pens just aside
Things and good, I should abide

Pigeons , as they fly
Be merry and never cry
Man and woman is always on the side
Guilt and feelings that I should hide

And I will spend my pining years
As life has me addressed
And I can say throughout my yeas
That I have been truly blessed

This poem was written at the time that I lived with my grandparents in California. I was homesick , new with everything, missed my family in Manila and Mel. Studied for the board exams . More lifestyle adjustments. God was gracious. I was truly loved by my grandparents.I love them too. They took care of me. I love California. I left my part of my heart there. Precious memories. Spring entailed hope for me that I will pass the exam. That I will see my family. That I will see Mel. Hope that everything shall come to pass. God is the bearer of hope. If we focus our eyes on Him, we will not grow weary and we will finish the race.

A DINNER DATE

Three birthdays  in one week. My son Ethan, my sister Mau and mine!
Boy it was busy!
It is like this every year. One party after the other. My son likes to play on his party. My sister wants to celebrate it with style . I like to rest. Chuck E Cheeses has been good to us two years in a row now. My son Ethan loved his power rangers birthday with some special playmates. They were so excited. Little Isaac was running all over the place and sweet Hannah was so happy to see her friends. I saw God's grace through our lives last week . Mau Mau got her fine dining experience with all of us at the Currents restaurant in River Inn . This was a true treat. Anoush Bouch, and Prefix menu for a reasonable price of Asparagus soup, Filet Mignon ,the only meat dish I will sacrifice healthy eating, and sweet potato ice cream on pecan tart. Fine linens, Ritz service. Wow! Now, my celebration was different. The grand finale! We went to Orange beach, Alabama. I fell in love with this place that I have promoted it to many, many people. The place has its true Southern charm. White sands. warm weather. Great seafood. My whole family was complete. My sisters, brother and brother in law with my parents, husband and kids. It was tiring but worth every moment.
This Easter  reminds us of Christ dying on the cross on that Friday. But thank God for Sundays. Life has come. He is risen! Man died because of Adam but through Christ we can live again. I thank Him for my birth. I thank Him for my life. I thank Him that I can be transformed from day to day by His mercy alone. He alone is perfect. And we can celebrate many birthdays . However we want. But Christ alone can change us. He is inviting you to a dinner date with Him. Make an appointment today.

WHERE I AM LED MY BOOTS WILL FOLLOW

Just went to an awesome concert of Chris Tomlin and Israel Houghton on their Hello Love Tour. My whole family and parents went including the two boys with the exception of my daughter who chose to stay with one of her bestfriends, oh she is growing up too fast ! We had a blast! It was packed and people are on fire to worship and praise God. I grew up watching concerts, shows and plays.  Childhood memories with my dad bringing me to Kuh Ledesma's concert at the Folk Arts Theatre when I was 8. We went to Barry Manilow's concert and fell in line for hours and only saw half of the show. He also brought me to the countless ones including Menudo, Air Supply, Earth, Wind and Fire, and many , many more. During my high school and college days I was a mainstay of Music Museum and Music Hall just hanging out with The Tux, Martin and Pops , Gary V., Regine V., Apo and Side A band. I dreamt of once being in the theatre arts and maybe PETA.  When I got married , we spent a lot of time watching Broadway shows as well and it got a bit old after awhile and I guess just got caught with my other responsibilities and money spent on entertainment was just not going to fit in the budget.
Though there was also a time in my life that I just did not want to watch anymore and had to many excuses and sort of lost my enthusiasm to do so. I just wanted to hibernate and stay where I am it is just a comfortable life for me . Let us say, I lost some hope, since I am growing old maybe I just needed to stay reserved. Until God opened another horizon this year. Lost hope, found hope. This time it is double the excitement to pursue the God given talents into the media stream.
I got these boots last year and boy they do feel comfortable . I wish I can wear them all year round! These are the boots I was wearing when I slipped and fell and hurt my neck and back for a week. But still love them! In life we wear different shoes . And shoes are needed to protect . Anointing . To make us comfortable.  Provision . To match our clothes. Grace. High heeled ones make us look taller. Dreaming big . They can cause us to stumble and fall also.  Failures. It can help us to walk or run .Endurance. Maybe jump and leap.  Victories. Work boots. Discipline . Winter boots. Waiting . Boots for rain.  Storms . Boots for gardening. Sowing. Hiking ones . Obedience.  Leather boots . Warmth. We might one moment be in another persons boots. Compassion. They make all kinds nowadays with different features to whatever need a person has. It just made me realize that no matter what kind we have, we are still the ones wearing them and they cannot move without the feet inside . Our feet is controlled by our mind. Mind sends signals to muscles . Muscles make it happen . We will be conformed at times to stay where it is predictable and just lose hope to perfect and chase a talent or gift . May it be in our career. Our family. Or just plainly our everyday walk. But things do not work that way. My boots are cozy but God directs our path. He is in control. Step by step He leads. He will show great and mighty things and introduce people to influence us in a great way. There might be times when the road is rugged and weeds need to be taken out. Or times it is smooth and wish we just get stuck on this. Or times when someone can just hurt us so bad and step on our boots. Forgiveness. It can cost us a lot when it is not on sale . Surrender.
Life has many paths. But in the path I will choose, where God leads my boots will follow.

AND WHEN MY FRONTIER FROM THE WILDERNESS IS STRETCHED

What do you do when one day the frontier of your horizon from the wilderness is stretched? I woke up this morning at 4 am and wow ! Iam hopeful today! Had a wonderful time preparing for church, great sermon from the pastor ! Hope is what it is as it has been promised. Hope is defined to get or do something or for something to happen or be true. Nowadays it can be deceiving and also devastating if that which we hope for does not come to life. Turn  on the tube , radio or the paper. They all say the same. You are doomed. I just refuse to be bombarded with this and of it all the hope comes from Christ. Not the job we hold. Nor the partner we cling on. Nor our kids. Even our friends. The stuff we own to our name. But the one who holds our name in the palm of His hands. Hope is the fuel to move on and press on . I woke up one day and bit by bit things that I hoped for is unfolding before me. It is yes overwhelming for I thought it was going to still be a process but when God pressed the signal it was already done deal. Hope was the bridge that connected my dreams of writing to you  and you reading this post today. Hope is what you see with the shot that I snapped for this post. It is hope that defined the moment and the odebience to God that captured it.

WELCOME TO A NEW HOME

My family went to Louisiana last weekend and it was the first time my children actually left me as it happened only the other way around. After a long exhausting day of work I went straight to the house blessing of our friends and people with joyful faces welcomed me. God made me remember of His provision that even in the downfall of the stock market , He is able to give favors for those who trust and obey. The reason for the hope was not really into what the human eyes can invision but what was not tangible is really what gets us across the other side. And the sad part is we always analyze situations. It is by faith and not by sight. The most difficult is when we see it differently as what God is telling so on the other hand. Do we cling? or let go? or just completely trust? I say surrender it all completely. Clean it thoroughly and never live any spot. For a wound to regenerate , everything must be debrided and no granulation will take place if is not one hundred percent clean. We  can use all sorts of irrigation but if the necrotic tissue is present , nothing will change.
I can recall still , when I was living as a travelling therapist and nothing was really permanent. I was always moving . Everything that I had has to be portable, a 13 inch television and a small microwave, a luggage and my boom box made my little black Honda Civic full. Someone gave me a Shout to The Lord cassette tape and my life has never been the same again. God openly welcomed me into a new home . Ask Him today to come into your heart. The key is in you. It is waiting to be opened.

SPRING IN MY MIND

I brought my children for about four months to the babysitter and as I pass by this street, these trees caught my eyes . I saw it during winter and saw it sprung . It brought forth memories of me and my husband waking up a bit earlier to prepare the kids as we bring them to Nanay Buhay. I prayed to God to give us grace during this  season of our life which entailed physical endurance that meant lesser sleep and rest . My boys are growing too fast . I can still recall having only two hours of sleep , having them almost like twins . We made it and it was a matter of discipline . Spring is the season of the year between winter and summer during which many plants bring forth leaves and flowers. It is a time when people clean up their garages as I am doing now my spring cleaning. It is a time when I wonder how come I have accumulated so many stuff I do not need at all and need to get rid of. It is the season when everyone feels the vibrant energy to go somewhere and do something. Iam in the mood to make my abode look good and presentable. No more heavy clothes and boots. No more cold spells for now. This reminds me of spring in my life is a time of renewal . Thoughts of new growth and regeneration . I yearn for the water for my thirst that flows from the stream of the Almighty Father. It is about transformation and not conforming to the patterns of the world but blooming as what we were planted to be , not with one flower but with countless petals to whom which the Lord may be exhalted and lifted up. Making up my mind to change as only the blood of Christ can really cleanse my soul. Clean not just my stuff but every bit of stuff I have put in my mind and my body. The year of 2008 was good but this year will be better! And I surely know I cannot do this alone and I need Him. Through the people who can really be accountable to me.  Mel and I made a treaty that we will remind one another to  read God's Word faithfully everyday. and pass it on to our children and  put it into action . Mel is my bestfriend and he is accountable to me as Iam to him.
Iam looking forward for my spring in my mind . Are you ready for yours? If not, it is never too late . Ask God to change you!

SPRING IS IN

Last week , we went to Orange Beach, Alabama for our annual family time. It was a short but enjoyable one. We got to see God's creations. Spring is in! Spring means birthing and growth. In the last month we visited several friends who gave birth and boy it is in the air or water. I look forward to seeing babies come to life. What a miracle! They are so innocent and cuddly. Fresh smell. Spring creates energy to people. It promotes excitement. There is more freedom to do more outdoors. Girls and gals  wearing shorts and flip flops . Ice cream trucks. Frosty. Bikes.Allergies.Yellow.Pink.White is in. Manicure and pedicure. April showers.Easter Egg Hunt.
Ethan's birthday. Maureen's birthday. Grandpa's birthday.  Of course, my birthday.

Spring brings HOPE...

THE FIRST RAY OF LIGHT

THE FIRST RAY OF LIGHT
by: Merce Veneracion

The first ray of light
Not by might nor by sight
To go on and endure a fight
In this world of my existence
I need strength and persistence
I pray to be  obedient
Oh Lord ! You gave me  breath
I pray to be relentless
Guide me to be selfless
I want to see what You see
Your heart to be my heart
To finish right not just start...

The first ray of light comes from God. Every morning Iam thankful that He wakes me up. What if one day we do and there is no sun? It would be different right? Especially for us who are used to a routine. Sometimes, what we plan is not God's plan for His mind is greater than ours! I have learned throughout the years of my walk with Him to pray for His will to be manifested in my life for I have realized that it is always the best! I have struggled many times because my brain have been trained to do the norm of this world. But with the transformation of the mind, surrendering to Him everyday, He will give the grace and step by step instructions so I can go on. It gives peace and assurance knowing that He the mighty counselor ordained it. Even if I do not see the tangible thing yet. We humans are very good in predicting and anticipating results and products. And most of the time we have a difficult time comprehending His voice because we analyze too much! I say, stop rationalizing when God says it ,do it! He will take care of the results. For we are His hands and feet in this earth. I have never gotten to this point writing a blog if not for God. At first, I was totally lost. I know I can do some art but not technical stuff. God brought forth people around me to be in the team, my ever supportive husband, my kids, my family, friends who are encouraging  . With different talents, we compliment one another. And we enjoy what we do, enjoying His creations and being inspired and be an inspiration.  Last January,  I sat in the plane beside a little boy and his mom who are headed to Hollywood. The boy is one talented cookie. He can dance, sing and act. He is about my daughters age , nine years old. He got invited to model for Ford models and got some more gigs as well. As his mom was telling her story, the boy came from an orphanage in Iran .  They prayed and prayed for a baby and God gave them a precious talented one. It just amazed me how a baby abandoned by his parents with God's sovereignity brought forth to a hoping couple and now he is gonna be a star . It never ceases to amaze me what she said to the boy, "God brought us together". Yes ! God can bring us anywhere. And Iam pretty safe I know as long as Iam in His will. No matter what it feels like. His arms are always warm and loving even in toughest times.
If you have not asked God His mighty will and purpose in  your existence, there is freedom to ask now. He will guide your life just trust Him!

EAT WELL , LIVE WELL

Me and my daughter had the awesome experience of gracing the grand opening of Eat Well Sushi and Grill, A Modern Japanese Buffet. We live two blocks from this restaurant and we pass by it everyday. My daughter, Hannah was a great back up photographer, she is very detailed with her shots. Iam training her and enhancing her God given talent at an early age. Iam a  shrimp tempura fanatic, yup I craved for this crustacean delicacy  everyday when I was pregnant with Hannah. From shrimp, to oyster, to softshell crab and vegetable tempura, they got it. Their sushi, sashimi , maki and rolls are heaven to the taste buds! They have one of the yummiest fried rice and mango mousse , me being of Asian in decent have rice in my dinner table at least 5 times a week. Gimme the rice , rice , rice! The ambiance is cozy and they have rooms for private functions and special parties . It is actually a good place to date. The price is reasonable for an all you can eat number. Eat well, rest well, sleep well, work well ,  exercise well, read God's Word everyday... a winner recipe for a great life! As for me and my household, we are glad to have this new baby in town!

STEEL MAGNOLIAS

I still can remember Shelby.  Steel Magnolias was a popular movie in the late 80's, Steel Magnolias. The movie was shot in Natchitoches, Louisiana. We went to visit last Christmas and the house of Shelby is now a bed and breakfast inn. I love staying at bed and breakfast places. Fresh linens, nice bed, no kids allowed? Gourmet food, freshly baked bread and squeezed juice. Afternoon tea, chocolate tasting and dressing up to the nines. I can only enjoy it once in awhile. We try to go out on an annual get away for a retreat , to bond and strengthen our marriage as well as to hear God's visions for us, things that He wants us to do. It is a nice and romantic place. I invite you to visit... you will fall in love. Try their famous Louisiana meat pies. Merci Beaucoup ( the resto) is also a great restaurant. Fried and blackened alligator , anyone?
They have specialty stores as well . Maybe check out some Vera Bradley bags ? Or their Lampe Berger scents for true and ultimate Southern hospitality .
Dating for couples is recommended . It is where you can build and get to know a person deeper and better. But when a couple is married , it is a must. It is a thing that you do intentional. Make time for it. Get a babysitter. A strong and healthy relationship is a model that kids look up to.It is a fortress.
Bonding through dating and going out enhances a relationship. Be creative . Be fun . It is ok to have fun with your spouse. Life is not all about bills and work and household chores. Nor even stuff. Memories of loved ones are the ones always remembered . A woman once in a nursing home cherishes all of her family photos and talked about a past with family, never even said anything more about other things but that. The happiest thought can always almost relate to a thought of good relationship with others. The eternal joy is related to a personal relationship with the Bearer of Joy, Jesus. Do you have Him? Invite an intimate relationship with Him....

BIG HEART IS A MERRY HEART

The love month almost past by so swiftly. It seems as I have still have a lot to write on love. Iam blessed to be around a loving family, friends, and  community.
God is teaching me how to have a big heart. We can pray for wisdom and He gives it, but we might as well pray for patience and understanding. When we love sometimes we do not get it back the way we want it or expect it to be. Having a big heart means, having compassion for people and situations that are not perfect in our sight. A life of surrendering to the source of love, God, is a life of obeying and letting Him direct us from day to day and touching people at that certain moment. As if it will be the only or last time we will touch them. Thirteen years ago ,I vowed before God to marry a man, submit to Him be trustworthy of his love and surrender a life of self-centeredness and let God mold me into a character of a supportive partner to my husband. It is commanded that we love one another as we love ourselves. This is firstly applied to our partners in life, our spouse. But how easily  we forget ?
A big heart is a merry heart! Forget about rationalizing and analyzing. Love starts in the house as they say,  the miracle starts in the house. I was blessed to have read a life goal of a friend, Joseph which goes " I want to walk hand in hand with my partner in the beach, even at the age of 70" .
The tides maybe strong . Storms may come. Birthing and falling. Good times. I want to say I will walk with my husband still madly in love with him through God's mighty blessings and grace even when Iam old...

LOVE LETTERS TO HEAVEN

If I write a letter to God, will He read it? Do I need stamps to mail it to Him? When does He receive it? What if I don't know what to say? Sounds like a child asking  his mom . God reads all of our prayers. He listens to us. Seek and we shall find. Ask and we shall receive. There are no ground nor express rate to heaven. A prayer that comes sincerely from the heart is heard. God looks at the heart and not at the outward appearance. He answers in His own sweet time. His timing is always the best timing. God does not want repetitious prayers. He desires for us to draw near to Him..be intimate with Him. Like a child talking to a Father.
When no one is around. When everyone is busy to listen. When everyone has turned away. When the cell phones are not ringing. When the system is down. When text messages are not being answered. When there is a strike at the post office. When there is no money to buy. When the lights are off. When the night is cold . When . When. God is there. Come to Him. He loves you.He is waiting for your  love letters to heaven...

Merci Beaucoup

SWEETS FOR MY SWEETS,SUGAR FOR MY SUGAR

So how do we really want to say it? With candies, cupcakes, cookies, flowers? Is it a romantic dinner? Or a stargazing evening? Love is patient, love is kind, it does not boast. Love is made known through actions, through kind words. It does not wait for a reciprocal action. It knows how to give, to serve . God loves us that He gave His Son Jesus that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but will have eternal life. How do I relate to this? Iam saved by His grace..for me not to boast..it is not by my good works. Mercy came running to me when I needed it. Even if Iam not worthy..God loves us. Sometimes I really ask why me? Iam nobody. God tells me" you are" I already planned you before you were even conceived. I know the day of your birthday. I know your undergoings, your pains even if you have not experienced it yet. I know you.Iam concerned about you. For this alone,  I know that Iam loved, by the true source of love. The cross is the picture of the agape love of God. Is this easy to do in our generation? I bet not. How many times did we get mad at the road for someone who cuts our way? How many times did we expected something in return of our love? Love can move mountains, yes! True love never dies! One realization that me and my husband have made this year is to never shout or scream at each other. Even our kids are being taught this. With trying this, respect is shown to one another and it eliminates some stress in the house. What the world needs is love sweet love. That's the only way...

ROMANCE IS IN THE LAND: WAYS TO SPREAD LOVE WITHOUT SPENDING

Have you ever been caught in a romantic mood? Want to be child again? Youthful and carefree?
Mel and I went on a vacation last year and he decided to use our nieces bike, notice it is purple. It has been a long time since we have done something like this. We were caught in a life of routine at one point. It is fun to have fun ! Out in the country we went riding . I will guide you to on how to be romantic this season of the year without hurting your pockets
          SAY IT!
  1. SAY I LOVE YOU IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND WAYS. TEXT, WRITE, HIDE THE NOTE UNDER THE DINNER PLATE, CALL, E MAIL, SEND IT THROUGH A BLOG NOTE OR CALL THE RADIO STATION.  BUT SAY IT!
  2. COMPLIMENT THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE, YOUR SPOUSE, FRIEND, CHILDREN, FAMILY, CO WORKERS, MENTOR. SAY SOMETHING THAT WILL BE REMEMBERED. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE CUTE WORDS. CUTE CAN BE CUTE! ADDRESS THEM LIKE A QUEEN, A KING, A PRINCESS OR A PRINCE!
  3. MAKE A COMMITMENT TO PRAY FOR YOUR LOVED ONES FOR FOURTEEN DAYS AND KEEP TRACK ON HOW GOD ANSWERS YOUR PRAYERS.
  4. RECITE A LOVE POEM OR A LOVE STORY IN FRONT OF THE SPECIAL SOMEONE.
  5. RECORD A CD OR VIDEO WITH A SPECIAL LOVE SONG.WITH YOU SINGING THE SONG. THIS WILL BRING A GOOD LAUGH!
  6. BE SPECIFIC ON HOW YOU PRAISE SOMEONE, AND DO NOT HESITATE TO DO IT IN PUBLIC.USE WORDS LIKE TERRIFIC, FABULOUS, LOVING, ADORABLE, ANYTHING . JUST PRAISE.
  7. POST IT EVERYWHERE THOSE LOVE NOTES. USE PINK !
  8. ENCOURAGE WITH A LOVE SCRIPTURE.
  9. MAIL A CARD EVEN IF YOU LIVE WITH THIS SOMEONE.IT BRINGS PIZAZZ TO THE CARD.
  10. ASK THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE ON HOW YOU CAN LOVE MORE WITHOUT GETTING SOMETHING.

TOUCHED BY ANGELS

After nineteen years , God has blessed us with three precious jewels. Our firstborn Hannah, sugar and spice and everything nice. She is our sweet angel, very smart. We already called her by name before she was even conceived. She is gifted in music, likes to sing and has an eye for the arts. She always has the sparkle of diamonds in her eyes, very light spirited and excited. This gal will usher hope to your heart...
Our second angel is Ethan. A boy after God's own heart. Very compassionate, selfless individual. We waited for him for five years. His antics will melt one's heart and his caring spirit will capture you...
Our baby angel is Isaac. Joyful in heart . This one is the huggable one. Very strong and athletic. He can dribble a ball even at the young age of one. He is bold and tenacious. His smile and touch will captivate you...

LOVE AFFAIR

I thought it is a brilliant idea to tell you my love story, my love affair to the man I love and ended up marrying twice. I like to introduce to you my love crew. The reason why my heart keeps on pumping and will keep on pumping. The gifts of God to me my husband and my kids.
I met Mel nineteen years ago. I saw him in a tiny town called Laguna, saw him first, very vividly up to this day, I can recall what he was wearing, and he had the most beautiful smile. Next thing I know, he was my college dorm neighbor, your typical real deal boy next door. I called him "red shorts" for he was always wearing one. If ever Iam gonna make a movie of this so called love affair with him, it will be entitled Red Shorts!
He is my bestfriend. We almost do all things together. Amazingly, we are opposites in a lot of ways. We were put together for a precious reason, we compliment one another!
I have told you mine. What is your love story? ( I suggest you write it down and daydream in the next few minutes )

Merci Beaucoup

THE LOVE BOAT WILL SET SAIL

I chose to start my first ever post in the month of February because it is traditionally the "Love Month". What an exciting time of the year! Red , red , red, they say paint the town red and we will in this blog site. Hopefully by the end of the month we will be all be breathing red. I will be reviewing books which will pump the hearts. Movies to rekindle a first and last love, the endless love. places to go where I have been. Romantic ways to celebrate love. Things to do on Valentines day on a budget. Gifts to give. Crafty and cute ideas to remember someone. Watch out cold hearted generation.
The Love Boat was a popular show when I was growing up . I could still hear the theme song as Iam writing this blog. I wish I can sing. Maybe not. From kindergarten up to the present time, I recall looking forward for a treat on this month. Candies, roses, concerts, fancy dinners, dressing up, cards and letters. It is for all ages. May you be married or single, young or old. No one can be immune to love, we all need to love and be loved.
It happened to Romeo and Juliet before, it is still the same now. We will all set sail. Many of us will fall again ...on the love boat.

 Merci Beaucoup
